Do you miss the Windows Phone Marketplace from Zune Desktop? Hack it back.

Zune Desktop

Although we're of the camp that doesn't heed that the Windows Phone Marketplace for apps has been retired from Zune Desktop, we imagine some of y'all think otherwise.

Luckily, Windows Telephone guru Den Delimarsky has y'all covered. He figured out exactly what the change was that Microsoft pushed on to us all yesterday. More than importantly, he too figured out to block that change so you can become dorsum the Market place for those apps.

Unfortunately the modify is a piffling catchy. Evidently the "update" comes from a simple modification in the configuration.xml that is sent from Microsoft every time you lot launch Zune Desktop. All you need to do is switch a "disabled" setting to "enabled" merely the tough part is you have to intercept that .xml file.

Configuration

That's where you lot'll demand a mini-server (or something coordinating). Basically you redirect your Zune Desktop to a local server where you tin have it fetch your modified .xml file and blast, you're in business. At present of course, this is only works so long as y'all stay with version four.8. If you update the Desktop client (and Microsoft is sure to button one somewhen) you lot can probably kiss this play a trick on goodbye.

Anyway, cool stuff simply think, you're using this at your own risk (distressing Microsoft if you get mad!). Go read the whole thing at Den'southward site for all the details.
